FUNDRAISING EVENT - CYCLATHON ON SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER
We hope that all 21 members who participated in our fundraising Cyclathon on 10 September have got over the effort it took them, together, to cycle for 12 hours on a static exercise bike, notching up an incredible 239.35 miles. When we tried this 4 years ago we reached 142.8 miles. The moral of this story is surely that going to the Gym improves your strength, stamina and fitness. At least we hope so.
As this was a fundraising event, with donations coming direct, through our JustGiving page and on the day, we are pleased to report the total has now reached £833.
We also ran a competition on the day to guess how far we would cycle. The winner guessed 240 miles, just 1,150 yards away from the actual total, and won a painting donated by Ali Samain, to whom many thanks.
The Co-op, who allowed us to set up on their forecourt, also donated a hamper which was won with a guess of 233 miles.
Our thanks go to everyone who supported us in whichever way, including Loddon Town Council and Chedgrave Parish Council for the loan of electrical equipment and gazebo respectively, and of course the team at Loddon Co-op.

No glamour, no glitz - just a great place for keeping fit!

(Exercise is the miracle cure we've always had, but it is easy to neglect this aspect of our lives. Whatever your age, there's strong evidence that physical activity can help with a healthier and even happier life. People who exercise regularly can have a lower risk of many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy.

“I watched a Programme on television regarding the elderly at the Gym,
and the benefits that they've gained. I am in my early 70s. Having to
get a referral from the Doctor, Louise then sorted an individual personal
fitness programme that has improved my flexibility and that is easily
adapted as I get fitter.”
